Let's Make a Unit! - Renaissance, Poetry and Creative Writing

First things first. I’m combining the Renaissance, Shakespeare, and poetry because I think they go well together and can be tailored to many ages. Older kids can focus on Shakespeare. Younger kids can join Shakespeare but also simple be exposed to lots of poetry in general.

Secondly, there are so many brilliant artists and *ahem* renaissance men to inspire creative writing. Surround them with beauty and they’ll want to create beautiful things. And, whenever you study poetry and learn about a style or favored subject of poetry, they just might want to try their hand at it.

Finally, there’s a lot of opportunity to add science (the human body, inventions, botany, etc) art (the teenage mutant ninja turtles!), history (royalty, power, influence, etc) and more!

Let’s get started!
